Welcome in the colourfull world of Mexican wines
Although Mexico is better known for the Tequila or the Corona beer, there are plenty of fine wines to taste and to discover. Vineyards throughout Mexico total approximately 111,000 acres and are expanding at a rate of about 6 percent a year, according to the National Association of Grape Growers and Wine Makers.
Although that figure includes acreage for table grapes and grapes for jams, juices and raisins, the wine grape sector is the fastest growing.
Let's forget about the elixir of the gods called Tequila, the sweets like jams and raisins, but look into details to a much more common product wine.
Wine production is widely spread throughout the globe. Not only countries like France, Italy, Spain, the United States or Australia produce wine. In fact the roots of producing wine actually goes to other countries, which are nowadays much less recognized in this arena - Greece being a perfect example. Let's focus on the upcoming region of today, Mexico.
If your lucky you might have heard that Mexico produces wine, however you could have a certain, not very good or quality oriented image of them. Well it is time to change.
You can visit the different regions where the grapes are grown. Some national producers from Baja California to Queretaro gain in being known .
Have you the faintest idea how wine making changed through Mexican history ? From the precolumbian age up to now; many changes have appeared.
